Get ready to discover expert-approved techniques, cosy drink inspiration, and simple upgrades that will change the way you make cocoa forever.
Let’s dive into 5 Tips To Make The Ultimate Hot Chocolate and turn every sip into pure comfort.
Ditch The Kettle:
Firstly, replacing boiling water with hot whole milk is a better alternative. A splash of single cream at the end can give it an even creamier and smoother finish.
Use Good Quality Chocolate:
Secondly, use grated real chocolate (I recommend 70% cocoa solids) instead of powder to give it a more intense flavour. You will need to add sugar to the taste to balance out the bitterness of the chocolate.
Don’t Add It All At Once:
Thirdly, mix the grated chocolate with a small amount of milk to create a paste. If you gradually add the rest of the milk to the paste while simultaneously stirring you will find the hot chocolate is a lot smoother.
Spice Things Up:
Fourthly, when it comes to spices, a winter favourite is cinnamon. However, you can always mix things up by adding cardamom and orange instead.
Add A Tipple:
Last but not least, the addition of spirits and liquors can turn it into an adult guilty pleasure. Baileys, Disaronno and Cointreau all work well in a hot chocolate.

Hi Claire, I'm a bit of an oddity, I love chocolate, but am not keen on hot chocolate. Saying that though my daughter is. When I do make it for the family, which isn't very often I do use good chocolate, milk and cream, I never though to grate the chocolate though, which would so cut the 'cooking' time!… The addition of a couple of After Eight mints adds a subtle minty taste, which even I sort of enjoyed.Thank you for linking up with the #MMBC.xx
