In this updated style guide, I share my favourite ways to wear a knitted vest from cool spring mornings to cosy spring days.
A Knitted Vest With A Dress:
Firstly, A Knitted Vest With A Dress.
Proof that feminine + functional works at any age. I wore this outfit last week, for a meal with my family for my mums birthday is all about easy elegance.
A flowy floral midi dress (comfortable and flattering). Layered with a soft knit sweater vest for shape and warmth.
Cream Mary Janes for a modern vintage touch. Trying to bed these in for walking around New York!!
I love how layering adds structure without sacrificing comfort and the sweater vest defines the waist in such a subtle, wearable way.
This is the kind of outfit that works for lunch with friends, a casual date night, or even shopping on Sunday.
Style Tip For Women Over 50.
- Don’t always take advice from others shy away from florals. Choose a smaller print for sophistication and balance it with a solid layer on top.
- It keeps the look refined, not fussy.
- Confidence doesn’t come from dressing younger. It comes from dressing like yourself.
Would you wear a sweater vest over a dress? Let me know.

I picked this knitted vest up on the sale rail and even on a budget, I think you can be sustainable and fashionable too. Take this tank top I brought off the high street a few years ago.
I wore it in winter over light jumpers, in spring with a long-sleeved t-shirt and with nothing underneath and also over dresses.
This is a great women’s tank top for layering, each season. I am so looking forward to wearing it in summer with my long maxi dresses again, too.
I love that it is a knitted vest too, so it keeps me nice and warm.

Also, places like Primark where I got a few of mine from.
I am so looking forward to going to the boots sale again in summer as you can always find something different at one of these.
But to get a really unusual one that is unique why not try your local charity shop, eBay, Vinted, or car boot sale?
Whether paired with shorts and sandals for a summery look or a light weigh jumper underneath with jeans for a chic winter ensemble.

When Were Tank Tops In Fashion?
They started off being in fashion in the early 20th century. I remember them from the ’70s. I was only a child then so this is one fashion I can’t really say I wore the first time around.

Flared Jeans With Stripy Knitted Vest Top And Platform Boots.
I was looking for some new jeans that fit well for a long time, as I’m trying to avoid wearing pants that are either big or too narrow.
I saw these flairs in Sainsbury’s and wondered if I was a little too old for them anymore.
In the 1970s, I didn’t wear them, but in the 1990s, when The Spice Girls were popular, I did.
After spending hours wandering around Meadowhall and seeing so many different pairs of jeans, including some that were rather pricey, I decided to give these a try.
I brought two pairs of shoes. I have two pairs, one dark blue, and the other lighter blue, and I adore them both.
